A member of a family of British artists, Wolfram Onslow-Ford was the son of Victorian sculptor Edward Onslow-Ford and the uncle of California Surrealist Gordon Onslow-Ford.

The frame of this painting bears the inscription Wolfram self portrait Paris 1899. It shows the influence of James A. M. Whistler, who was a family friend. The painting is in as-is condition. It could benefit by cleaning as the varnish has darkened over the years. The stretchers suffer from worm damage.

It is not signed, there is only the inscription, but Wolfram went on to become a portraitist. In 1899, he would have been 20 years old. Perhaps studying in Paris.
