This American painter-etcher was one of the leading lights of the artistic flowering of Charleston, South Carolina, in the early 20th century, the Charleston Renaissance. He was born in Michigan and died in Georgia, was associated with the Woodstock Art Colony in New York state and lived in Charleston for a number of years.
