La Masure is an etching by Louis-Auguste Lepère. The Paris native was a driving force in the revival of wood engraving in Western art in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Lepere, according to several sources, executed more than 150 etchings, in excess of 200 wood engravings and 14 lithographs. More detailed biographies are available on the internet.

Later editions of the etching were numbered and another edition was bound, unsigned, into a volume. This proof is hinged onto an original mounting and is faintly light struck. There is a notation on the bottom of the window mat: Lepère - La Masure - First State - Lepère's own proof, marked à moi.
