Gray, a Louisville artist, was encouraged to study in New York with Eliot Daingerfield and other established artists. Her work was exhibited at the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C., and major regional shows. Sophia, a prolific artist known now for her posthumous portraits of Kentucky governors, was honored with a gold medal from the Louisville Art League.
