This watercolor of a shantyboat on the Kentucky River at the Brooklyn Bridge in Mercer County was painted by Harrodsburg, Kentucky, artist Jesta Bell Armstrong.  Armstrong was a teacher at Asbury College, where Robert James Foose was one of her students.  She was a graduate of  Asbury College and received her master’s degree from Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee.

A stamp on the back says:  Framed by / Daugherty / Paint & Supply / Order #1666  / 6th & Main Paris, Ky.

She was the subject of a show at the Art Museum at the University of Kentucky in 2008.
