- Frank Girardin was a native of Louisville, Kentucky. He began
his art instruction in the 1870s at the Cincinnati (Ohio) Art
Academy with Thomas Satterwhite Noble and, later, Frank Duveneck,
both fellow Kentuckians. Some sources say he played semi-professional
baseball while in Cincinnati.
-
- Girardin moved to the Richmond, Indiana, area and was an
original member of the Sketch Club. He was an active member of
the Art Association of Richmond, serving on the board of directors
for several years. He painted and sketched with Richmond's great
art talent, John Elwood Bundy.
-
- In 1910 Girardin moved to California, settling in Redondo
Beach, where he continued painting.
-
- His work is in the San Diego Art Museum and the Richmond
Art Museum, reflecting his three-region art career.
