David Humphreys Miller, a third
generation artist, is best
known for his western paintings and Indian portraits. He was born in Van Wert, Ohio. He studied
with his father, Lew Miller, his mother, Edna Humphreys Miller, and
with his great uncle, Karl Schmalhaus, and then later at the
University of Michigan, New York University and the Grand Central
School of Art under Harvey Dunn, and privately with Winold Reiss.
